2/2/2012
Dear brothers and sisters in City of the Lord,
What a blessed year we had! 2011 saw many great works of God in our midst:
- a Charism School at St. Martin's in San Diego
- a great Convocation, featuring some "friends" who wanted to win a dance contest...
- an inspiring teen retreat in March and kids' retreat in April
- another fun and life-building summer camp in Wrightwood, CA
- the initiation of our Catholic Family Life weekends
- men's and women's retreats that helped us better understand St. John of the Cross's insights into the spiritual life
- a series (still ongoing) on the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens
- sponsoring healing services, including hosting two priests from the Missionaries of the New Evangelization
- and many other events, too numerous to mention
Truly, God continues to show us His favor, and we are grateful!
As you know, we are preparing for the 2012 Convocation. As we continue exploring our Founding Charism, the theme is "Covenant Love from God’s Point of View." It is one of the key times that God uses each year to unite and lead us. Please do all you can to be there. This year, we are privileged to have Dr. Daniel Keating speak to us, whom I had the privilege of hearing this past summer at a Pastoral Teaching Institute in St. Paul, Minnesota. And Fr. Patrick Dooling, long-time friend of City of the Lord Monterey Branch, will be our main celebrant and homilist at a Charismatic Mass. I'm sure God will be speaking to us both through Dr. Keating and Fr. Patrick, as well as the during time we spend together in prayer.
Information about the Convocation, including a registration form, has already been sent to you through your Branch. Please fill out the form and turn it with your payment to your local Branch Administrator as soon as possible. This is very important so we have accurate counts for the various activities. Contact your local Branch Administrator if you have questions, including any concerns you may have about making arrangements for payments.
Thank you for your faithfulness to our covenant life! God bless you, and I'll see you all soon.
In Covenant Love,
Bob
